Wood Pendant Making Workshop
(Hands-on Event Activity for adults and youth 13+)
Want to add a fun, creative, interactive experience to your party, wedding reception, wine tasting gathering, or other gathering? Want your guests to take home an amazing, memorable piece of art? Look no further.
I will bring all of the materials and guide you and your guests through the process.
We will start by selecting one of the various wooden hexagon "frames", into which fit a variety of wooden pieces. The fun part is picking through, selecting, and combining pieces to find colors and patterns that fit your personality. We then glue them on the spot, and within minutes they are ready to take home.
Because of the large quantity of small parts, carefully sorted into bins, this is considered a 13+ event. Younger kids are welcome to participate with close adult supervision.
Creative Tutoring
Want to learn how to bring your own laser cut or laser engraved designs to life? I can get help you get started.
From creative brainstorming through fit and finish, I can walk you through the various skills and techniques. In our 1-on-1 sessions, I can help you learn vector graphics editing software (inkscape) and how to design for the laser, as well as coloring, assembly, and finishing. Let me show you the tips and tricks of the craft.
As part of the sessions, we can cut small projects on my laser cutter. After the sessions, you will know everything you need to know to use the laser cutter at your local library (i.e. The Redwood City Downtown Library Makerspace).

Public Art Walking Tour
Put on your walking shoes and take a guided tour of Redwood City’s downtown public art collection. Visit more than twenty five artworks, hear the backstories, discover some of Redwood City’s hidden gems, and discuss/debate what makes a good art. Along the way, you learn about some of Redwood City’s history, as reflected in the art, as well as the process of commissioning art in public spaces.
Your tour guide is an artist, a world-wide explorer of street art, a Redwood City resident of 25 years, a participant in many of Redwood City’s art communities, and has spent over 15 years championing, establishing, and growing Redwood City’s public art program.
This is a 2 - 3 hour walking tour that is best suited for small groups of 2-5 people. We’ll cover roughly 3 miles (7000+ steps), and we’ll stop for coffee and restrooms about half way through. This tour is only available in English at this time.
